The safety of your product is a prime and legitimate concern. We all want to get our commodities back in the same state in which it was picked up by the renter, and according to the agreements.
Renting out your commodities to an Ovrint member is equivalent to a bank lending some money to a client, or you lending some money to friends and families. Most of the times you get it back on time, occasionally you get it back late or in crumbs, and every so often you just do not get it back at all if some legal measures had not been taken in advance to avoid any mishaps or to ensure a positive outcome.
Unfortunately, just like banks or financial institutions, Ovrint does not have the panacea to guarantee any one that he/she will always get his items back. Even with all their high tech tools designed to represent credit risk, or the likelihood people will pay their bills on time, financial institutions often still have to seek legal paths to recover their money.
The short answer is : YOURS
The Ovrint platform simply facilitate the connection between commodities owners and renters. We are the bridge that help you guys to meet. We do not decide how you run your business. It is your responsibilities to take appropriate measures and precautions to secure your items.
You, the commodities owners, are an independent business owner. You create your account/business on our platform, you could increase or decrease your inventory, adjust your prices, keep your books, set your policies, define your safety and protective measures, etc…
Although we do not have the universal solution to protect your items, we do however have a few suggestions that you could add to the dispositions that you may already have or thinking about implementing.
A few things that we encourage commodities owners to do are:
1- Operate in your city. Keep it as closer as possible near you
2- Always take a picture of the renter’s ID
3- Always take a picture of the tag of the renter’s vehicle.
4- Make sure that the picture of the ID and the address match the ones on his Ovrint profile picture.
5- If the ID’s picture or the address on the ID are different from the one on his profile, you should not close that deal or seek additional proof to double check the identity.
6- You could even require a deposit on certain commodities.Â
etc…
Note: All your rules and requirements must be clearly mentioned in the items’ description section
We are working on better measures that will help with securing your articles. We are also opened to any suggestions that you may have concerning this topic. Together we can minimize the risk of loosing your commodities and make Ovrint the safest shared commodities platform.
